ABOUT OUR INCOME TAX

Effective January 1, 2005, the City of Hubbard tax rate went from 1% to 1.5%. Credit for tax paid to another city has been 1% and will remain at 1%.

The City of Hubbard income tax was first levied August 1, 1964, at the rate of 1/2 percent. In 1974, Hubbard City Council Ordinance #39-74 was adopted. The passage of Ordinance #39-74 resulted in an increase in the City income tax rate from its initial 1/2% to 1%—a rate that remains in effect today.

In 1991, the tax office serviced 2,550 different active accounts. Since that time, the community has grown, and today over 3,500 individual active income tax accounts are administrated by the Income Tax Office. Likewise, income tax collections have continued to increase from $1,070,000 in 1998 to $1,557,000 in 2005. The revenue generated by the City income tax is vital to the operations of various departments, which include the City's General Fund, Park and Recreation Fund, Capital Improvement Fund, and Street Department, and 6/0 Bond Retirement Fund.

Municipal Income Tax Filing is due April 15th. All Residents 18 years of age or older must file a yearly tax return. Also, every business located in or performing services within the City of Hubbard is required to file. Non-residents are required to file only when they have income income earned within the City of Hubbard that is not fully withheld upon or have a business or rental property in Hubbard. Tax returns are required with no regard for the amount of income received or losses incurred.

At present time, Hubbard does not have the capability to accept forms filed electronically. However, you can complete your return on our "NEW" On-line Income Tax Preparation. It will be up to you to file the paper return.

The tax office is located in the Municipal Building and is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
